Monaghan County Library, Clones, Co. Monaghan.

The New Monaghan County Library provides local history records, genealogy records, internet access, and printed media, and replaces the old library in the centre of Clones. This landmark project is a cornerstone in the regeneration of Clones Town Centre. The project was won at competitive tender under Public Procurement Guidelines. Difficult ground conditions were overcome by the use of bored piles on a narrow restricted site.

Project Details

The building is constructed with an in-situ concrete frame and features;

  • ‘Techcrete’ precast cladding panels
  • High-specification curtain walling with very large glass sizes
  • Automated rooflights with rain sensors
  • Double-height glazed entrance

Designed for public use, the building features hard-wearing high-quality materials including terrazzo flooring and walnut paneling. External finishes include stainless steel bollards and granite paving. The scheme is a fine example of Elliott Group’s ability to deliver a modern high-quality public building under challenging site conditions, within strict cost and programme parameters, to the satisfaction of the Client.
